It's a shame that the site isn't being used. So many Discworld sites have closed down because of lack of use and others are struggling to survive. The latest site has everything going for it because Transworld Books/Random House are providing it and have made the editor of Discworld News the moderator.
With so many new books being available this year there should be a lot of things to talk about. There's also Terry's health issues, the Sky films and whatever happened to The Wee Free Men film. Did the various strikes in the US delay the start of filming? The release date in the US was supposed to be late 2007. OK I didn't post for 12 months but that's because my partner had a serious road traffic accident and was lucky to survive. I don't get online much at the present time but hope to be able to in the next few months. How can we promote the site? As members we need to let other DW fans know about it and publicise it better but how? |

Well, not sure if it helps, but I just discovered the LibraryThing, a kind of a forum for booklovers. You can put up your bookshelf there, and the system'll suggest books that might be in your style. Kind of like a Last.fm for books...
Aaaanway, I'm sure you're all members there already (I tend to be last at picking up trends) but I thought that as Terry Pratchett's page there seems quite active we could promote this site to all the people there. Get some new novices, maybe...? Oh, and just click at that -> LibraryThing to go there... -------------------- |

I think when a forum is underused, it gets trapped in a cycle. Existing members have said everything they have to contribute + have nothing to reply to, + anyone who stumbles across the forum sees that there haven't been any new posts for months + assumes it's dead.
Well, that's why I haven't been posting anyway. I pop in every couple of days, but with no-one else posting I'd just be talking to myself. -------------------- |

Likewise, NinNin.
I have several times posted a link to this site on other sites - but I think I will now post the link in all my sigs, where allowed, and ask for new members. -------------------- All beliefs are true - for a given value of 'true'.

Our members have made a total of 5035 posts
We have 170 registered members The newest member is FromRimToHub Most users ever online was 15 on February 16, 2007 01:20 pm Says it all, really. And I don't think my sig links are doing a thing. If anyone comes to look, they just find a dead site and go away again. -------------------- All beliefs are true - for a given value of 'true'.

Oh well, I've tried. I've put this place in my sig on all the sites I visit, but how is anyone ever going to bother when none of the 'regulars' ever post any more?
This place is a corpse. Flies buzzing around everywhere... Mind you, spiders like flies... -------------------- All beliefs are true - for a given value of 'true'.
