Interesting ... there's three definate favourites here.

mendeddrum/bowdown.gif to the Watch or you'll get a mendeddrum/twak.gif

BadAssWitch- 10-18-2004
The Watch is my favorite no doubt (and yes, I've cried too), but I've been missing Granny of late...

Same. It feels like forever since "Carpe Jugulum" sad.gif

It used to be the witches - and I still love 'em, especially Granny Weatherwax

Then Death, Mort and The Death of Rats (ya gotta love him!)

But currently it's the Watch, and Vimes. Really good characterisations, stories and themes, including sob-stuff. Vimes is the best developed of all his characters, imo.

I'm also rather fond of the Wizards of UU, and the Librarian in particular.

Dammit! Love 'em all! biggrin.gif

purre- 10-25-2004
City Watch has always been my favorite biggrin.gif

lord shield- 10-26-2004
the first witch ones were good but the City Watch ones just got better and better i think - Night Watch was utterly orgasmic! Death got overused.

i'm hoping we will see more of the wimmin soldiers wink.gif

I shed a tear for Night Watch  sad.gif

I almost did, it's a sad book. Which for me is saying something as the only other book I have almost cried at is Amber Spyglass.

I HAD to vote Watch. Witches and Death come close but you CAN'T beat the Watch. They rule. I wish I was Vimes.

VIMESY- 11-01-2004
oooh! i just love the city watch ones. the death ones are ok too though.

hey... is my avatar right? (sorry, i'm not very good with computers)

Your avatar looks great, a little small though. Welcome to the board

Hello Vimesy, and welcome to The Shades! smile.gif

Obviously I picked the WITCHES.
But I saw the UU Wizards had no votes and I was sad. They really are a great bunch; I mean they really give meaning to the saying "the more the merrier".
And I love Death too (you gotta respect a man who talks in caps)

Yes, I love the UU Wizards. When they show up, you know it's going to be hysterical laugh.gif I also love the Science of Discworld books as much for the little Wizards stories as the actual science. They would probably be my choice after the Watch.

Anyone but Rincewind.

I take it you don't like Rincewind then? mendeddrum/saruman.gif

NinNin- 01-26-2005
I went for the UU wizards. the Dad's Army of the disk.
though my cursor did drift over Death + family momentarily...

I'm not overly keen on Rincewind, either... I think he's pretty much had his day. there's only so much you can do with a character whos only real talents are running away + making sarky comments in many languages. I think a few v. good characters have ended up playing second fiddle to him in the past... it's time he retired.
but that's just my opinion.
